Markkleeberg lies in the Leipzig lake district south of Leipzig. In September it hosts the CrossDeLuxe obstacle races over 9 and 18 km plus a family version. In December the winter edition of the Sonnenwendlauf is an 11 km run on the shortest day of the year.
