Leipzig offers flat, fast courses and plenty of water: the Leipzig Marathon in April is one of Germany's most traditional marathons, and the floodplain forest in the middle of the city is a training ground for runners and cyclists. The lakes of the Leipzig Neuseenland, such as the Cospudener See and the Markkleeberger See, host triathlons, open-water swims and canoe events.
